Strong Kids Campaign

For many children, families and adults in St. Petersburg communities, the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg is the place they turn to for encouragement, help and support to live their daily lives and achieve their dreams. What if we weren’t here?

The Morris‘s Story

strong_kids“We dream of a brighter future through the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg’s scholarship program. The YMCA gave me the opportunity to go to school and be a good role model for my son. It gives me peace of mind knowing he is in a caring environment while I work and attend school. While at the Harbordale branch of the YMCA, my son has learned more social skills, improved his school performance and has made better decisions. The staff is friendly and easy to talk to. They go above and beyond to help if any problems arise. Being part of the YMCA is like being part of a really big family.”

Strong Kids Campaign

As a not-for-profit charitable organization, the YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg raises funds annually through our Strong Kids Campaign to provide financial assistance to those who might not otherwise be able to afford the membership and program costs. The YMCA relies on the generosity of our donors to keep our programs effective and affordable as well as to create new programs in response to community identified needs. Your tax deductible charitable contributions can impact the life of an underserved pre-school child, an idle teenager, a deserving single parent or an isolated senior adult.

In 2009, the YMCA provided more than $615,000 in financial assistance for programming and childcare to 2,834 youth, families, and individuals so that they could participate in programs that help them lead healthy, safe and productive lives.

When a YMCA of Greater St. Petersburg campaign volunteer contacts you, please consider making a tax deductible donation or pledge to support the YMCA’s important work of building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities throughout the greater St. Petersburg communities.
