Child Care

All YMCA Child Care Programs are staffed by certified child care professionals and elementary level programs are licensed by the state. Child Care Programs are not just a place for your children to hang out while you are at work. We have a unique curriculum, researched and developed from the most current and cutting edge educational and character building resources available. Our programs help children create positive peer relationships, develop healthy self-esteem, and gain a strong sense of self-awareness.

Before & After School Programs

Before & After School programs follow the schedule set by the Pinellas County public school system. The program offers before & after school care to elementary school (ages 5-12 years) and middle school (ages 11-15 years) children at 21 sites throughout southern Pinellas County. For information on sites licensed for pre-K and/or special needs children, contact the Child Care Administrative Office at 727-328-YMCA.

Hours of Operation
Before care is offered from 6:30 am until the start of the school day. After care is offered from school dismissal until 6:00 pm.

Financial Assistance

Coordinated Child Care (CCC)
CCC is a private, non-profit organization designated by the state to provide funding for families who are in need of financial assistance for daily child care. Parents who work or go to school may qualify for this government subsidized program. Please call (727) 547-5700 for more information.

YMCA Scholarship Assistance
The YMCA offers full or partial subsidies for those in need. We will turn no one away for the inability to pay, where need is demonstrated. See the Member Services Center for more information.

YMCA READS!

YMCA READS! places volunteers with elementary school children who are performing below their recommended reading levels. Mentors work one-on-one with first and second grade students at local elementary schools teaching children phonics and reading comprehension.

By volunteering your time, you can earn community service hours and receive valuable training, all while helping students improve academic performance and build self-esteem. Be a child's tutor, friend, and key to a brighter future. For more information, contact Jacob Ayala at 727-328-YMCA (9622).
